Watershed & Stormwater Curriculum for 5th Grade

Presented by: Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection

We’ve all heard of stormwater pollution but what is it really?  And how does it impact our lakes, rivers and streams? MassDEP, Think Blue Massachusetts and WPI have developed an elementary level curriculum that takes the basic water cycle to the next level! Stop by this interactive exhibit to see what really happens to water when it hits the ground and before it evaporates back into the sky! You’ll cover topics like what is a watershed, storm sewer versus sanitary sewer, aerial mapping and rain gardens! This curriculum meets Massachusetts NexGen Science standards and is jam-packed with interactive STEM-based activities to show your students how water moves both over and under-ground.
