Funding and Grants Services Toward Prosperity Program

Presented by: Ward’s Science/VWR International

Strand: K-12 Education

Our intended audience is K-12 and higher education teachers, faculty, staff and administrators who have a passion for STEM and desire to contribute to the growth and prosperity of their students. Visitors to our exhibit will find materials related to grant writing and partnership development including samples of winning proposals, copies of actual online applications, and materials from our partners related to programs and funding.

Grants and partnership information is usually presented in workshops but at this unique exhibit teachers can have one-on-one conversations at their convenience with our team throughout the day. Funders generally support equipment and materials but they are mostly interested in supporting sustainable projects with clearly articulated student outcomes and impacts that continue well past the initial funding.

We help teachers develop such programs and projects that motivate and inspire students and prepare them for entry into the STEM workforce. We guide teachers to think about tangible needs through the lens of a project that involves student input and ideas and paves the way to STEM pathways and future prosperity. Through our program, first-timers and seasoned professionals alike build their confidence and competence in grant-seeking and resource development for a variety of settings including indoor and outdoor classrooms, labs, and out-of-school time. We encourage teachers to bring their current proposals and ideas for immediate feedback. With our support, Massachusetts teachers have won significant amounts from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, Toshiba America Foundation, Voya Unsung Heroes, Lowe’s Toolbox for Education, Project Lead the Way and others.
